  1. I am Indian, in fact living in Mumbai (formerly Bombay).  We have a very diverse culture and food.  It is often regional.

Obviously, beef is not eaten and also pork.  People living along the coastal areas, eat alot of seafood.  Lamb is more common in the North and chicken is popular everywhere.

Most Indians, esp Hindus are vegetarians:  the main diet is fresh fruits, salads (raitas) vegetables (subjis), dals, and rice or flatbreads (rotis, chapatis or phulkas).  Rice is the main staple in the South and flatbreads are eaten daily in the North.

Larger cities offer cuisine from everywhere.  Desi Chinese is also very popular, it's an Indian version of Chinese food. We also have McDs, KFC, TGIF, Dominos....

But if given a choice between eating TGIF or a home cooked Indian meal, most Indians will choose eating a good home cooked meal --- nothing beats that!

    Hope this helps.

  2. Meats (except beef), Fish, veggies and fruits covered in coconut and curry. It's actually quite tasty!

  3. rice, lentils, lamb, naan bread, spicy foods, lassi

  4. curry curry and curry

  5. rice is popular...

  6. Ok....first up I'm also Indian....

and its not exactly like what you think.

Many Hindus are vegetarian, but many are meat-eaters too....

Most Hindus don't take beef, but many do....so please don't think we don't. Its more popular with Muslims and Christians.

Since India is a country with an extremely diversified population, we support all sorts of cuisines. Including international...we ***** live without Chinese, or Continental or Italian or Thai....

Pork is also very popular in metropolitan areas. Seafood is popular in all the coastal regions.  Meat is popular all over.

But yeah, 90% of all Indian food is spicy and gravy-like...

  7. In India we have a chapati(a flat bread) with any vegetable

  8. curry
