  1. Typical foods like arepas, cachapas, empanadas, black beans are served but you will find evry type of food found in the states there and Venezuelans eat meat, fish, and chicken like everyone else.  Only thing really hard to find is  Mountain Dew Soda not like it matters!

  2. We have several basic staples like:

    -Arepas (corn bread http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arepa)

    -Casabe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casabe

    -Black beans

-Rice, plantains and noodles usually with a protein such as beef, chicken or fish.

Here's a link with a picture of our typical dish http://www.caracasarepabar.com/menu_gal_... . Check out this restaurant's menu too.

    Hope this helps!

  3. Well...Lets begin with saying that like many countries, a lot of the food depends on what part of the country you visit. But the MAIN dishes are the empanadas, which could be filled with cheese, chicken, meat (either molida or mechada) and fish, which they call cazon. Then there are the arepas, which is the same thing as the empanadas (same beginning process), but that it could be either fried, or on a flat pan, and the WAY you fill it is different, but you can eat those with ham, cheese, or the same meats. Then there is the typical, caraotas, which are black beans, but they are cooked with a sweet flavor, and more condiments. There there is the plato typico, which consists of Carne mechada, white rice, caraotas, and fried yellow plantains. Then there is the FRIED green plantains which are cut into round pieces, you can eat them with some salt sprinkled onto them, or put some ketchup and a LITTLE bit of mayo, those are mainly eaten on the beach. On the coasts, the main dishes are of fishes and seafood. There is the carite, and whole fish. which are accompanied with white rice, and some fried yellow plaintains, yummy!!!!! There are the giant shrimps or small shrimp. Which could be eaten either firied with vegetables, or sauteed with condiments, either version is sooooo good. Then in me mountains, like in the stated of Merida, where there is the Arepa Andina, which is different from the regular arepa, since it's based on wheat flour instead of the corn. And their main fish is the trout, since it's the only kind founf in that region. So there you go. That is just an OVERVIEW of all the different types of food that can be savored in the beautiful country of Venezuela. I trully hope that you can one day enjoy the delicious variety of foods that exist in that country.
