Baseball is a very popular sport in Japan, and many people also play golf, soccer, or volleyball.

Video games of all kinds are popular with younger people.  Nintendo is of course a Japanese company, as is Sony.  Pachinko, a form of pinball played for money and prizes like a slot machine, is also very widely played.

Chess, Chinese chess, Go, Reversi/Othello, and various card games are also played in Japan.

I believe that a lot of Japanese people enjoy doing karaoke. They even buy there own microphones and carry them around. Not just teenagers, I've even heard of office workers who go to these places after work.

I can't think of any actual game they play except for video games, but I do know that samurai enjoyed playing go.
