What do people in spain wear during the summer?

I'm studying abroad for the summer in Salamanca, and i read that they don't wear shorts over there. Therefore I need help on choosing what to wear. What are the trends? What other things do I need to know about etiquette and dress in Spain?

Hi I live in Salamanca and I can tell you: you can of course wear shorts! People won't look at you unless you wear flip flops with socks XD In summer it's very hot here, although some nights it's useful to take a jacket with you. The one who said it's 40ºC and dry heat is completely right. I think you can wear what you would wear in your country.

By the way, to the girl who's going to Granada. Take a lot of fresh clothing because that place is hotter than h**l... You'll wish going around naked was in fashion!

I studied for a year in Zaragoza. I wore mainly skirts in the summer as it was so hot.. the hottest it got was 40 degrees centigrade.. and it was a dry heat.. not humid. You wouldnt see people walk around with any kind of jacket..people just wore t-shirts everywhere.. unless they were business men!

I remember walking home after a night out.. at like 2am i the morning and still wearing a t-shirt and not feeling cold at all ! I thought to myself I would never be able to do this back home in the UK! It would be too cold! I've never been to Salamanca but I've heard it lovely there. People will just be wearing clothes to keep cool, don't worry about fashion too much. There isn't much etiquette about dress, except I think you have to cover up if you go in a church etc.. I never had any trouble over there. I wouldn't worry.

I'm really glad that you asked this because I'm studying abroad in Granada and our orientation leader told us the same thing.

"Don't wear shorts or else you'll stand out as a tourist and you'll get MUGGED and GANG RAPED!" haha

of course people wear shorts in spain!!!.............

They wear the same kind of clothes as in the uk or america,

except less than in the uk, as its hotter in spain#!.

One thing that are quite popular among spanish women/girls, are white cotton shirts, to wear over a bikini top or similar, they will wear them with shorts or a skirt, as it keeps them cool but also keeps the 'direcft sun' off them....

In Spain we wear the same clothes as the rest of the rest of Europe or America. Summer clothes if it´s hot and Winter clothes if it´s cold.

Where have you read that? Of course we wear shorts...  we dress very similar to the rest of Europe, anyway this year the trends are, over all, skirts. You may see the catalogues of tendences of Mango and Zara.
