What do people learn a martial arts decide to teach that martial art and another one and give it a totally?

Thier are over one million different martial arts in the world atleast with different names. That probally about lets say 100 different martial arts. huhhh its kind of hard to explain okay lets say someone takes a martial arts that is a blend of Akido And boxing. Instead of saying akido and boxing they might say tae karate thai boxing or some stuff like that

  1. To establish a difference between what they teach and what others teach.


  2. Because everyone has their own style. Any martial artist, no matter who they are has their own style, even if they are a complete beginner.

  3. Meh.  I have no idea.... probably just a marketing gimmick, or because they want people to think that their style is unique and special.

    I like Aikido and karate, my brother does taekwando.  I think the main point is that you're able to defend yourself and have fun.  I don't think there really are that many different names for martial arts.  To me, descriptions like "capuerra" "aikido" "karate" "taekwando" "judo" "mui tai"... they all conjure up a particular style of fighting.  I think I agree with you, that sticking to the traditional names, and saying it's a blend of two (or three) traditional styles, will be more useful for identifying the style of martial arts that is being practiced.
