What do people look for in a drama/tragic love story movie?

I'm trying to spice up my script so please comment on what you look for in those types of movies?

people like to see others they can relate to..... for example in the recent movie re-make of romeo and juliet (with clare danes and leo dicaprio) even though it was based in old willy shakespeare times, they set it nowadays... this was so that people could relate to the characters: eg: gang culture of the guys (and separate families) modern street violence, teenage kicks, etc.

maybe you don t like this types of films , but someone likes. it s about mood,opinion... I like horror films but you re not obligated to like them too. in love stories you can find real love...or something like this.people who like love are looking at love stories.Same to drama.But i thing that only emo kids like drama films. :D
