To me...it is a compliment. You are not overly self-absorbed, you care less about material things and you aren't someone who demands in a self-serving way.

I consider myself low maintenance...but I had to remind my husband that that doesn't mean NO maintenance. : )

That is a positive thing actually.  

think about a guy calling his girlfriend high maintenance ... meaning he always has to call her or receive her call she is clingy wants to go shopping a lot ... wants roses every Friday...  wants him to show up at every social even she has ... wants dinner and movies every weekend ... and you have to be very careful not to make her cry or angry coz that would cost him $200 at the nail salon of her choice plus he has to sit there and stare at the ceiling walls or his hands.

as opposed to an easy going person that is not demanding at all ... chop that list to a third minus the frillies and that is a low maintenance person  :D
