I kind of have two questions in one. Well my first one is, really not trying to offend anyone at all, I am ethiopian and I personally love my cultural food but I was wondering what non-ethiopians think about it cause I personally think it is better than american food (burgers and hotdogs). My second question is if anyone knows I always only see ethiopian resteraunts but never another african resteraunt and I wonder why the same thing with churches I only see ethiopian ones and no other african ones. Idk maybe I am not at the right places. So what do you guys think of ethiopian food and why I see other african churches and african resteraunts are my questions. Thank you and please get back to me soon.

  1. I like Ethiopian food,

I think that as far as your second question, you are probably just not in the right place...i don't think there are any african restaurants, of any kind where i live.....

there are black churchs, but that doesn't necessarily mean african

however i have seen both in chicago...

  2. Its probably because you are only looking for Ethiopian restaurants.

I'm Kenyan and there about 12 Kenyan churches in my city (there is even a Kenyan neighborhood in my city)

There is a kenyan grocery store, and a kenyan movie theater..ahhaha

As far as ethiopian food is concerned, I like it. I have heard people talk about it and it sounds really tasty.

    Injera, kitfo, gomen,

    all the way

    ahhahahaa

  3. I like ethiopian food but there is only one restaurant that serves ethiopian food in my town and the only ethiopian food to buy in stores are injera

  4. Hi there. We can't seem to find any dish from Africa in my country, except from Egypt (there's a couple of nice Egyptian restaurants). So I'm not familiar with them.

Can you introduce me to Ethiopian food? Any recipes for making them? Appreciate it very much. Im gonna give u a star to see who has the recipes.

  5. I like Ethiopian food- I really enjoy the social aspect of sharing different dishes. I don't know where you live, but there are lots of Moroccan, Egyptian, Nigerian, and some South African restaurants in Chicago.

I'm Jewish, so I don't pay too much attention to churches, but I'm almost sure that I've seen a Nigerian church close to where one of my friends lives.

  6. I agree that Ethiopian food is way better than most "American" food (althought I have a bit of a quibble with your definition of American food being only burgers and dogs). Anything that emphasizes veggies/legumes over animal flesh is healthier imho. Where I live now, I don't have access to Ethiopian food, but I used to live in the DC metro area and got to eat your cultural food. I enjoyed it.

Your question about other African cuisines is intriguing, and on reflection it is interesting that I can't think about any other African cuisines as such. But as a resident of the American South (sort of, I'm in the Va. mountains) I see lots of African influences in "Southern" cooking.

  7. I like Ethiopian food. I guess it depends on where you live-I live in the DC area and there are tons of African churches and restaurants. The African restaurants are Ghanaian, West African, Moroccan, Senegalese--I have eaten a lot of foods from different African countries and have enjoyed it. We also have a lot of African/ethnic markets where you can buy African foods and prepare it yourself. There is a very heavy presence of Ethiopian businesses- restaurants, hair salons, bar/coffee houses in this area so most people in this area have tried

    Ethiopian food.

Believe it or not in my neighborhood I can go to the gas station (mini market ) and buy injera packaged  & ready to eat!!
