play video games like a lot of people. I read this short article about how role playing games and strategy games can be good for the mind. However there's also a bad thing about it. People can get too wrapped up in them and become a bit obsessed with a certain game. Here's an example of a game that has a lot of fans. Final Fantasy.

If you don't know anything about this game, it's a series of role playing games that are really popular among people for the characters and stories. Lots of people play the games. Young kids and adults. I'm a fan and enjoy it to. However I noticed that a lot of so called fans love to argue and hate each other for it. If it's about the best game or who the best villain is, people insult each other all the time.

One game was released 14 years ago and STILL people are obsessed about it and saying how stupid fans of another game are. And of course they need to state which game is the best and who the best villain is. While there isn't anything wrong with a little healthy debate now and then, it just gets out of hand sometimes. I've learned not to care what the best game is. I enjoy the games because they have great characters and they're fun to play.

I have my favourites like everyone else but I can at least be mature and accept another's opinion about it. Being a fan though, it gets annoying to hear these people that care so much about it. I know some might tell me to ignore it but I can't help it. I worry about people. It's not even with just this game. Plenty of other games have these annoying fans. It's kind of sad really. They can't play games in moderation. I've been insulted in the 9th grade for wanting to buy a certain console. I just laughed and stayed with my opinion. This was a few years ago. I just wander why people get so worked up about these things and why they care.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm interested in psychology and what these people are thinking.

  1. I did play games to escape the harsh reality of my life, but now that i have accepted that my life is going to stay the same no matter what i play just for R&R.

  2. Knowing exactly what final fantasy is and having played also of the series myself i do know what your talking about. Some people do get extremely wrapped up in games even if its not a role playing game. I think it depends on certain people really. Playstation came out when i was around 7 i think and not long after came the ff7 series. Personally the game is wonderful, i think one of the best games ever. But i dont go around talkin about it. There are more important things to life and some people dont realise that. Consoles are pretty much a tool you use for entertainment. Some people take it more seriously and there life is wasted away but.

To do with what they are thinging it all comes down to there personality i supose. You have to know that some people refuse to be wrong and others like yourself are open to other peoples opionions wether you disagree or agree with it you will still listen. I think in some situations for example world of warcraft (no i dont play it) some may see themselves as higher then other people (levels and what not), whereas in reality they might not be able to do impress people otherwise except to say that they have accomplished the highest lvl in this game or they have finished it etc etc and other kids that are wrapped in video games will ackowledge it.

Hope it somewhat makes sense but i know the sort of people your talking about. Cheers

  3. Well, I think that gaming can be a good hobby, but like any activity it can be very bad if not done in moderation.  For example, if you are just sitting there all day staring at a computer screen leveling up your character, you could probably better spend your time playing a sport, socializing, or learning a skill.

With that being said, I have also heard that video games can improve things like coordination and strategic thinking.  So I think that video games are in this sense like other games, such as card games, chess, etc...

I don't think you should play or avoid video/computer games just because someone thinks you should.  You should just play the ones you think are good.

  4. moderation if any one thing is running your life it is probably not such a good thing.

  5. I think your a nerd bud

  6. My husband gets way too wrapped up in video games...sometimes it has been so bad that he wasn't participaiting in his own life or our families.  Some people get so wrapped up because they aren't comfortable for one reason or another being around people in person...they feel they can be themselves completely in a video game where they talk to other people and it is soooo much easier to make friends and you don't have to worry about what they think of you.  Sometimes, they aren't happy with something in thier lives and they just use it as an excuse to escape what they don't like.  Sometimes they use the excuse that they are thinking things over, they have a lot on their mind.  Generally they are not in a good place in their life and they need to get off the computer and live thier lives.  It is amazing how much they miss while growing roots at the computer.

  7. A lot of my guy friends and a few of my friends that are girls play. Almost all of them are obsessive and will play for hours. I think that they are wasting a lot of their time. It effects their grades and they spend most of their time by themselves or with other people playing the same game.

  8. personally, when i see someone whos REALLY into a videogame i see someone who dosnt want to part of anything else.....just them and the game,so i stay away from them

  9. i've never heard of video game players attacking other players for their video game preference...it seems kind of ridiculous to me. it's like a crack addict and a meth addict squabbling over which is better. in the end, the drugs are both equally as damaging.

  10. I get annoyed, my husband will get so into it that he blatently blows off his kids sometimes, I'm just like get off your **** a*hole!
