  1. The first part of Stuart's statement is true.  Geordies do have a good sense of community spirit, at least the area I come from.  We all tend to look out for each other.

    But I must say, the 'playing on the accent' part is a load of cr*p.  Whichever region you come from, you can't really change your accent.  You are what you are, accent and all..............


  2. Most people I have met seem to think that they are nice, homely folk - very warm.

    In truth, I should imagine that they are the same as everyone else.

    The downside is that Geordies are of the opinion that people find their regional accent very attractive and so play on it, whereas it is often difficult to understand and can grate a little.

  3. That depends upon who you ask. If you travel to Sunderland and ask people there, you probably won't find many favourable opinions.

    (due to the age old rivalry between the two cities)
