What do people think of avast! anti-virus software... is it any good?

Its a very good Anti-Virus solution.Works well on both 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows.

Unless you are running a machine with a server operating system then there is no need to use anything other than the free anti virus solutions such as Avast! or AVG.The free ones use exactly the same scanning engine as the versions you pay for,but with less options for configuration.

Also Avast! has a smaller memory footprint than the likes of Norton or McAfee.

Free updates for the life of the product as well.

Had Avast for 2 months after always having Norton and no problem so far.

Avast is good but no more. While it is free, i got problems, the updates were  installed regularly... i made regular scan... but still a virus crash my pc once and a spyware entered my pc which resulted with another crash... I think that the anti-spyware is not so good and for the antivirus it seems good. I'll give avast free version 7 out of 10 only.

Visuals: Its interface is very simple and easy to use if you change the skin to the blue one(don't remember the name).

Does the job. Used to be a Norton fan now I'm more of a NOD 32.
