I cant understand why green groups are so against injection of ore in oceans to cause a bloom in phytoplankton.

The phytoplankton are consumed by fish such as antartic krill and then are spat or shat out to the bottom of the sea in an abyss for 1000 years.

Does this not seem cheaper than traditional carbon crop sequestration?

Why are so many green groups against it?

  1. I have absolutely no idea. It's a sound, simple reason to to increase the volume of plankton in the ocean. It'll work and provide a solution to the perceived threat of "global warming".

The only conceivable answer would be that it doesn't serve their interests.

  2. Hubris

  3. Because it is not a long term solution by any means.

Algae blooms are cyclical and once the season is over they die releasing their captured carbon. The only benefit would be as a food source for humans and ocean life. You need more info on how the ecosystems of marine life works, it is not that simple.

  4. It's another massive experiment in man made climate control.  Opposing one massive man made change with another seems unreasonably risky.  We need to get out of the game.

"If the Earth came with an operating manual, the chapter on climate might begin with a caveat that the system has been adjusted at the factory for optimum comfort, so don't touch the dials."
