  1. My bother's name is Bob but somehow he picked up the nickname Boon. It just sounds better.

Of course tyhere was Daniel Boone...

  2. I have some very good friends named Boon.  The word boon means treasure or good fortune., so why would I not like the name.

  3. I'm not crazy about it, but it's not too complicated, which is nice to have in a last name.  There's no point of reference for my last name, which is two words and fairly long, so people always have a hard time spelling/pronouncing it.  If your last name were "Boon," you could just say, "like Daniel Boone without the 'e,'" and people would understand.

  4. Although I don't have an opinion on the name, I did find this for you on www.ancestry.com

    Boon Name Meaning and History

English or Dutch: variant of Boone.

    hope this helps.

  5. It is not as bad as some last names I have seen.  Working on genealogy on the name Boney, I have seen it listed as Boon also Bohn.  I like it. It is short and easily spelled.
