Cuba has nationalized health care, education, housing and 95% literacy rate, and it has organic farming. The claim that he is a dictator holds no water because the US government has supported brutal dictators past and present such as: Musharraf, the SOud family, Shah reza Pahlavi, Suharto, Pinochet, Saddam HUssein, the Duvaliers, etc and NONE of them had what Cuba has. Also the US supported Bautista the right wing dictator of CUba until 1959, and the Cuban Americans in Miami who are strongly anti-Castro are usually descendants of the very wealthy Cubans under Bautista. Before 1959, over 90 percent of CUban wealth was held by the top ten percent and over 80 percent of their land was controlled by foreign corporations. Of course you never hear any of this on the American corporate media, but I see things from an international perspective.

  1. Castro hasn't done everything wrong, but Cuban people who are allowed to go back and visit are devastated by the way it looks. There is poverty, depression and Cuban people aren't even allowed on their own beaches. I can't wait until I can go see for myself. Cuba has the world's smallest hummingbird. It's like a bee!

  2. What I say is this. If the people of Cuba want this... Let them hold a verifiably free and legitimate election. My bet goes with them being ousted.

  3. Move to Cuba then.

  4. Viva Batista.

Things are fine if you toe the party line in Cuba and keep any complaints to yourself and don't like freedom.

  5. Interesting that your claiming Cuba has a 95% literacy rate...yet 15 Cubans drown on a daily basis trying to swim here.

I guess they like reading American books more than Cuban books.

  6. Raul Castro is moving Cuba in even more of a positive direction. (Fedel is out)

I know people who have visited Cuba and they say it is unspoiled and wonderful.  Not like the Bahama beach resorts, or Cancun in Mexico, but a real slice of Latin American life.

Not all things revolve around government and politics.

The revolution happened in Cuba because of uncontrolled capitalism resulted in mass poverty.  I am not against capitalism, what I am against is uncontrolled capitalism.  That not only brought on the Cuban revolution, but the French and Russian one as well.

I'd love to pay Cuba a visit before capitalism turns it into another high priced beach resort.

    EDIT

I believe we are the only country that does not allow our people to visit there.  Cuba is 90 miles away, yet we know so little except what our press and government spoon feeds us.  People from Canada who can freely visit there don't seem to mirror the lines from our press or government.

Don't ya think, maybe something really stinks with our selective information that is fed to us?

If you wonder why this is going on, remember, when the Cuban elite left Cuba when the revolution happened, they took the treasury with them and settle in Florida.  Remember the 5 year old Eleane Gonzales fiasco and how the Cuban community went bazooka's in Miami.  These are the same people that politicians are afraid of.  Power, money and the craziness to scream bloody murder over anyone who would dare stand up to them.

  7. As a Bolshevik I will defend the Cuban Revolution against any attack of US Imperialism. The model of "nation building" by US Imperialism can be seen on El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Bolivia,Colombia, Paraguay,...

Anyway, US Bourgeosie don´t want another "China" near US borders, USA will turn into protectionism, is another sign of desperation, USA is epicenter of the world crisis. Its decline is irreversible.

  8. castro is almost dead. cuba is very close to be coming free. they were just allowed a few months ago to by dvd players under the new guy.

  9. The USA is the center of greed, money and profits. Money knows no race, has no morals and everybody loves to get as much as possible.

Doesn't matter, that you are right in everything you say, the sad truth is, that the USA gives the people the illusion of freedom and opportunity. That 50% of the USA population lives in poverty and the USA has the highest murder and general crime rate in the entire world, is secondary.

68% of all drugs in the world are consumed by USA citizens, which sounds to me not like a happy family, but its the example of the mega rich in the news, which keeps everybody struggling for dollars.

The one, who dies with the most toys wins, is the doctrine of USA happiness and it infested the world.
