  1. Off the top of my head... the best things to sell are

    a) items that solve people's problems or

    b) contractual services (cell phone, satellite tv, cable tv, home security, etc)

    c) anything green eco-friendly

    - an example would be diet products because they're looking for something that will work and they're looking for it now! (not to mention the really high markup, perceived value, and the fact that it's consumable)

    - contractual services often have authorized dealer/reseller/affiliate programs that pay you a high commission when you make a sale. I use to own a Tmobile/Cingular store in the mall and they would pay $150-$300 per sale. ADT home security pays around $100+ per sale depending on your affiliation with them. The idea is similar to insurance sales.

    - people are flocking to anything "green" and completely consuming it because it's new to most people and they see it as a bit trendy to be "in the know". Anything you can think of these days can be bought energy efficient, organic, eco-friendly, green, the list goes on and on. Just practice what you preach.

  2. Depends on your audience. Who are you aiming for? Men, women, children, adults, elderly, teenage girls, teenage guys? Depending on your preferred audience, your results will vary (you'll have better chances selling toys to children rather than adults, for example). Start with that, then think of their interests, see what's the latest fad, and go from there. If you try to aim for all the audiences, you're setting yourself up for failure.

  3. The ideal product is something that is not readily available just now but which for most people will become a must have item. As an example televisions, the best time to have had a TV business was just before public demand soared probably the late 50's early 60's. Mobile phones they took about 8 years to gain full market penetration, now I know of a product that is launching later this year in Europe and it is estimated that within 5 years every home will have one.

I can't go into details here as that would likely foul the guidelines however if you care to email me I can get you more details.
