What do people wear to the captains ball on carnival Cruise ships?

What do children wear? Do kids go?

Yes children go.  Think really dressy easter dress.  I have seen people (adults) wear regular everyday dresses and some wear ballgowns and tux's.

on a large cruise ship...i.e. 13 decks or more, it's a let down. the captain speaks from a balcony welcoming you all for about 30 mins then you continue with your night out. It's fun but not everyone bothers to dress

Yes kids can go, It's kinda up to you how to dress though... I mean some people dress like as if they were going to a wedding and other people dress as if they are going to a ball. I on my first cruise my family and I got very dressy like prom dressy, It was very fun and either way you choose to dress as long as it more dressier than casual you will be fine. Next time I go I will not be getting sooo dressed this time but the first time was very fun, you get to pretend your a princess ha ha!

AHHH! I need to know the same thing! I am going on my first cruise, sailing from N.O. to Cozumel, in February. They call it "formal" but am wondering how formal do they mean? I was planning on just a chiffon sleeveless deep purple dress, right below the knee, with silver glittery sandal heels. I hope you get some answers. Someone told me it doesn't have to be a long dress, or even a dress, if you have a formal pant set.
