  1. There is more to life than just the 9 to 5 or the (sometimes) drudgery of basic homemaking and child rearing tasks. People really should learn to value leisure time. It's the way people "recharge their batteries" as it were, and it's important for not just our physical well being, but also our mental health, too.

Some ideas as to what to do when you're not on a structured 9-5 job?

You can seriously pursue education or work towards a cause. You can become a community volunteer. You can visit people in nursing home or in prison.

You can also use the time to indulge an interest in a hobby.  Example, if you enjoy music, take up a musical instrument.  If you like to write, keep a journal.  If art is your thing, then take up painting or visit museums.  Some people use the time to restore old houses, to make crafts such as quilts or jewelry, or they might garden.  They may pursue an athletic interest...or even use the time for spiritual growth of some sort.

or you could even teach people how to do those things...

As for me, when I was a SAHM, I was a community volunteer.  Now that I'm an empty nester, during my days off and leisure time, I tend to focus on my music and writing, or I go to the seashore and enjoy all the pursuits tied in with that.

  2. When I didn't work (I now do work for my husband and my home business) I did a lot of volunteer work and the errands my husband couldn't do as he works between 40 and 70 hours per week depending if it is tax season (he's an accountant). I would actually be quite busy.

  3. Well..

    - I am managing my husband's business (when I feel like it). In essence, answering phones, doing some marketing, sending customer quotes etc.

I try to clean and cook every day.

    - I watch the news and some mindless entertainment once in a blue.

    - I am pregnant now so I spend a lot of time browsing baby products and reading reviews.

    - I come to answers mostly to ask questions that pop into my head as I do other things but I do get distracted by some of the questions that are being asked at times and end up getting waaaay side tracked and spend 1 hour plus answering questions (my husband calls me an addict).

  5. When I was unemployed (quit my job), for the first 2 weeks, I loved it. I slept in, lounged around the house, went shopping, surfed the internet, went into chat rooms, took long drives, (back when gas prices werent completely insane), watched tv and movies, read books, went to the library, went to the park, etc etc etc. After the first 2 weeks I got bored and started looking for a new job but still did those things ...after about a month (the job market is terrible here) I was going completely insane. I was cleaning constantly, I'd vacuum the floor and then crawl around on my hands and knees looking for specs that I'd missed, I was scrubbing the walls clean (I actually scrubbed the paint off the walls in places), I washed every piece of cloth in the house, dusted, did dishes,.....I even took my car over and did a detailed cleaning on it.

  8. They use all of our tax dollars and live freely. all of us working people are paying for their drugs, alcohol and other adictions. They are worthless peices of society that need to be stopped. They need to start working and contribute to society like the rest of us, the ones who are paying for them.

  9. They spend each day as if it was an economical vacation.

Go for a walk, go to the park or beach, get ice cream, watch TV at home, play nintendo games, do weekend at home kind of stuff.
