  1. Depends on the type of dog you have.  "Professional" groomers have different shampoos and tools for short hair, long hair, double coated, etc.

  2. I use Isle of Dogs on our Irish setter show dog.  Comb out dog first, bathe,  blow dry (on cool or medium, not Hot) while brushing.  Trim when dry.

  3. For especially dirty dogs, they actually use Dawn dish detergent - no kidding.

As for the rest of the products, you can cruise the PetEdge.com website - they cater to groomers, but you can order from them too.

For getting whites whiter, Oster Superwhte Shampoo, one of the oatmeal shampoos for delicate skin, and all the smelly stuff - well, if you want your dog to smell like fruit, go right ahead (blech)...

For the finishing touch, get yourself some of  The Stuff - that's its real name.  You spray them down with it (it comes in a concentrate - dilute and put it in a spray bottle) when they are still wet, and when they are dry, they will be very silky and slippery, and the dead hair will come out quickly.

But that's where you get it - a gallon bottle with a squirt top by the tub will last you a long time, so don't worry about the price.  It's far more economical than buying diluted shampoo a quart at a time - or less...
