When truckers speak it into their walkie talkies, what meaning do those words have?

  1. truckers are using citizen band radios (CB radios) and there is an entire lexicon of slang and terms.

the breaker, breaker is a request to interrupt the converstations on a channel and start a new one with anyone on the channel.

the 1-9 is channel nineteen; the most frequent channel used by drivers on the road.  most CB radios have at least 21 channels, most have 40 channels regulated by the FAA

just google CB Radio Jargon and you'll find a number of dictionaries to decipher the terms

    below is one such site

  2. breaker is to get the attention of everyone listening. the responce would be "go ahead break". I have never heard one niner niner. there are tons of them out there.

Here is a link to all the 10- codes....ie-10-4, 10-10, and so on.

  3. Breaker , breaker means I am cutting in with some important information. One niner niner means 199.  Niner has the least amount of confusion as apposed to nine.

  4. The term 'breaker' informs others on the channel that you are about to start broadcasting. This is typically followed by the channel number, so if you were going to start talking and you were on Channel 19 (most comminly used for general conversation), you would start your transmission by saying, "Breaker one-nine". "Niner" is just used in more formal radio broadcasts to avoid confusion with the number five, as both sound similar.
