What do rare parakeets like to eat?

I've had my rare white parakeet for one day and she hasn't ate anything.

Is she just nervous with a new surrounding?

"Rare parakeet" is just a term some pet stores use for budgies that are colors other than normal green.  There is nothing rare about  white parakeets and they eat the same thing as any other budgie.     What where they feeding her at the petstore?  Birds don't often do well with sudden changes of diet.  An if it is something they have need eaten before they may not even recoginze it as food.     The best diet is a mixture of seed and pelleted diet suplamented with fresh foods (ie vegtables and small amouts of fruit)  along with grains such as whole grain breads, cooled cooked oatmeal ect.   However start her on what ever the petstore was feeding then gradually switch her over.

Also do you have hooded (covered) food bowls?  Budgies often will not eat out of these so if you have them replace them with open food bowls.
