Question:

What do reptiles symbolize in dreams?

Last night I had a dream that I witnessed a green snake devour and eat a blue iguana and that I was surrounded by all kinds of reptiles, snakes, iguanas, komodo dragons, and I never owned nor took interest in the animals nor species (nor have I seen any movies/documentaries concerning them). I also remember one of them tried to eat me (a greenish yellow boa constrictor).

So what do they mean and symbolize?

  1. Reptiles can mean evil, threat, danger, rivalry, fear, and death. Hope it helps(and doesn't get your spirits down)(:

  2. In traditional Freudian Psychology, the sanke represents a phallic symbol, or p***s. But as the first answer states, even Freud said, " Sometimes a snake is just a snake."

  3. I believe that dream symbols are highly personal and don't always have anything to do with real life interests and knowledge. I know nothing about aeronautics, but I've had dreams about flying.

How I feel during and after the dream tells me allot. "Witnessed." Like you were a casual observer? When the boa tried to eat you, did you just casually step out of the way?

Maybe I've been spending too much time on Yahoo Answers, but I'm getting a sense of racism here. Green snakes devouring blue iguanas, etc., etc. Maybe your subconscious is trying to assimilate all the racial conflicts in our crazy world.

I repeat, the truest dream interpretations are inside of you. Hope you find yours.

  4. As Freud might say "sometimes a reptile is just a reptile".

  5. Reptiles = symbols of fertility. I'd say some amazing s*x is in your near future.
