  1. I am not one to jump to conclusions over global warming, at least over this being necessarily manmade and happening for too many years.

The predictions are based upon models of a vareity of things like CO2 and greenhouse effects but one good source in their opinion is the IPCC.

This really is an area that is just now beginning to see real scientific debate.   Keep an open mind on both fronts.

    Hope this helps you...

  2. the end of the world in the short but people have been saying this kind of thing for years and we don' pay attention, they'll be a point when the world dosen't end and it starts getting cooler even though there is more co2 nd the whole scam will come crashing down.

  3. The prediction is that the ice glaciers in the north and south pole will melt completely.  Well maybe not fully true about the south pole, but the north pole is very serious.  Last year was the greatest extent of ice melt in recorded history.

After looking at the trends of the global temperature, the north pole and arctic sea will be completely ice free by the summer of 2020-2025 which is easily in our life time.  Imaging Santa Clause in a house boat instead of a frozen tundra.

Eventually as the ice melts, the seas will rise and the low lands of florida and lousiana, and really all the low lands around the globe will experience significant flooding.

  4. Just ignore them.

By past data, they all got it wrong.

  5. There are almost as many predictions as there are predictors. All the predictions are generated by computer models. You should bear in mind that weather forecasts are not too bad out to about a week but after that become progressively less accurate until they are valueless. Nobody knows how good any of long term model predictions are, or indeed if they are any good at all.

One of the big problems with all this global warming stuff is that so many of the proponents (and opponents too!) have become emotionally invested in the positions they have taken and are no longer practicing science but rather politics instead.  Each side asserts the other sides position is myth, not fact. You can see some of this if you google "global warming predictions".

Nevertheless, there ARE some definitive facts. One is that the level of CO2 in the atmosphere has been increasing. Another is that there have been increases in various measured temperatures. There are also other data out there of greater or lesser reliability depending on methods of measurement and statistical adjustment.

You should look at the evidence pro and con with a skeptical eye and make your own decision as to what it means.
