Well, actually they eat gardens. They love green, leafy things.

They eat almost anything that has some moisture to it,   I went out with a flashlight one night to do one last thing in the garden and saw a huge one at the edge of my lettuce and not having anything else with me, I picked up a label stake and pinned it to the ground,  did what I came to do and looked at it as I left and there were ten more crawling all over it, eating it.   I went and got the window cleaner (ammonia and water), and sprayed the whole group,  got ten for the price of one.  

That became my new way to hunt them,  (never use salt near your garden, diluted ammonia works great and does no harm).
