    I think it means that everyone is born equal, but depending on how hard you work in life, you may become "superior" to those who started on the same level as you.

    Think about it in, excuse the example, terms of food.

    If you have too much, you can get sick and risk the chance of dying(extreme circumstances).

    If you eat too little, the same can happen,

    But by eating the right amount, you will be perfectly healthy.
