What do some people have against Habitrail Ovo products?

I have had a large Habitrail Ovo set up for a while now, and I haven't had any of the problems people talk about, except for the leaky water bottle, which I solved anyway by keeping it at 45 degrees and only half full. My guess is that those who complain do not actually have the product, and are just going off of what they see or what they have heard. This product is great!!! Why do some other people have such negative feelings about it? Please explain. By the way, I use it only as a play cage, and yes my gerbils LOVE it, and NO, they CANNOT escape from it. The walls are curved, so it is impossible to chew. : )

Habitrail is awesome! It isn't bad at all!

My mouse loved Habitrail, here is his cage that I made.

He had many differint styles, of the cage (I would rearrange it every week)

Nanamito (my mouse) passed away May 11, I hope in that cage he had the best years ever. This is him about 2 weeks before he died.

I did have it so your guess was wrong. It has very poor ventalation which means they can get respitory problems from breathing in their urine and bedding. Secondly It is too small for any hamster, cages should meet certain qualifications. The tubes to me are way to small and hard to build. The den and other add ons are also too small. I have had this cage and did not like it. It was to costly and you can get better for less.

I agree with what you said. I have a large Ovo setup and my hamster (and me) love it! The only thing is that my hamster bites the walls, it noisy and it poops everywhere because there isn't any corners. But I solved those problems.

yeah I think they r great I was going to buy it but they didn't have any left at the time but I'm planning to buy one as when I went to my friends house I put my syrian in her Habitrail Ovo and he had loads of fun!  They are so colourful and very good for exercising! Theres nothing wrong with them really.But I do agree that it has poor ventilation. Hamsters need lots of air.

People like to grumble.

I like my ovo.  I have it for a sryian hamster and I have the first pack with the carry pod, easy access sleep pod, tunnels and tubes.  Then I added two more large units that are sold with mazes.

The bottle is a pain, I'll try your sugestion.

The one problem I did find and was very annoyed about myself was the wheel.  They need to change the wheel design as it is harmfull for syrian hamsters yet it was advertised as suitable.  The pokey out dome in the middle rubbed permanent sores on my hamsters hips.  I feel stupid for not realising what the sores where and letting them get that bad!  I removed the wheel and make sure he goes in a ball every evening instead.  The sores are better but have left scars.

I think the pod idea is great as my hammy loves to move from one area to another transfering things he has scavenged.  (he has escaped 4 times from different parts though!!  1. he popped open the main compartment door, I watched him do it, very clever 2. he popped open the little green sleep pod(or is it meant to be for food?) 3.&4. he pushed the end caps off!)

I can imagine it would be better for smaller dwarf hamsters and gerbils.

I have NO idea. I bought the entire line at petsmart (haha.. ha) because it was on clearance. its expensive, but the BEST cage I have ever had for my hamsters. and actually I havent heard any bad things about it, but I had guessed since it was on clearance that people werent fond of it. its nice looking, very safe, and unless you leave the dome open it is impossible to escape from. I give habitrail 10/10.
