  1. What is your point and/or question?

  2. they are historically known as phallic extensions.

  3. "fast cars" is an oxymoron

cars are slow, bikes are fast

  4. In todays gas situation there is no room for these vehicles.

  5. You've got to relate to some people's past experiences..., perhaps someone had a loved one killed in a car crash driving a high performance machine...

  6. They may have money, but by using so much gas they are driving up the price of gas for everyone else.

  7. Because people who drive fast cars are labeled as being irresponsible drivers.  You shouldn't be going over 80 in any situation ANYWAY.  It's just like a kid with a skate board.  He already looks like trouble.  Plus, the fact that there is a gas crisis doesn't help.  There are people out there who can barely spare any more than 20 bucks for gas.  And you have these people buying gas JUST to take a ride down the road.  It's not about what someone can afford.  it's about being sensible and considerate.  And a person with a fast car speeding down the high way at 110 mph doesn't set a good example.

  8. Don't get me wrong Jay - I love sports cars and have since I was a kid --

But now that I'm older they seem really silly on city streets and highways - I mean most of the dream cars you or I would really like to own don't really hit their stride until well over 100mph.

So it's like getting a thoroughbred racehorse and hooking him up to a hay cart - it's a sad misuse of a fine machine.

I am a family guy and I drive a wagon - when I do drive - I'm mostly in the bike lane.  I've actually found that folks in sports cars are actually polite generally to cyclists.  The dudes that yell at me or hit the gas in my face or "right hook" me are usually driving large trucks.

But there are some fools out there that try and race around in their sporty car during traffic... I mean seriously - a couple of jerks can quickly give everyone else a bad name.

I think autos should be purchased based on getting from point A-B the most efficiently as possible.  Sports cars, guzzling street rods - these cars would be much happier at the drag strip or on a racetrack.  Where I live they do host amateur racing of all types of vehicles on the local race track.  It's cool.

AND way more fun to drive on than on the highway!
