What do stars on here mean?

it says on my profile i have one star. i dont know what they are for or how you get them.

Yeah, people give you stars when they think your question is interesting. But what I want to know is what they do! What? Do they give you points or something?

Stars show how many people marked your question as "interesting". (The option shows under your question..it's right above my avatar). Hope you don't mind, I looked at your "questions asked", and the star comes from one person who thought the question you asked about 2012 was interesting to him/her. So now you know! :)
