  1. You shouldn't be feeding the kitten cow's milk or bread.  They don't have the proper stomach enzymes to digest milk and bread will constipate them.

If the kitten is very young, her chances of survival are slim.  You might want to consider taking her to a shelter if you aren't going to be there to feed her.  Not only because she won't be able to find food, but also because of all the dangers outside.

  2. my husband brought home a stray kitten recently, and she went nuts over bread and milk and such for the first couple of days. Then, she discovered the kitten chow we left out for her.  She still hangs out under the baby's chair for his scraps, but for the most part, she eats cat food.

  3. This poor kitty has "adopted" you and is obviously looking to you for help (but cow's milk can make the cat sick - please do not give the kitty anymore cow's milk) - and the cat needs cat food - a piece of bagel is not the proper nutrition for a cat.  Cat food and fresh water are necessary for this poor kitty.

This cat is obviously NOT feral, and needs care - someone needs to care for this cat, and if you can't keep it, it still needs a loving home where it will not have to try to fend for itself and survive outside.

Since you are going on vacation, do you have a friend or relative or co-worker that would be willing to take care of the kitty until you return?

Someone REALLY needs to take this cat INSIDE, where it will be safe from predators and traffic and cruel people - stray cats are often picked up and sold to research labs for experimentation, and they are also subject to other cruel people, being run over, attacked by other cats or larger predators, contacting feline diseases - and STARVING!

If you are unable to take in the cat, or do not have someone willing to take care of the cat, you can try a cat rescue, or a shelter in your area - however, this season is an absolute nightmare for shelters because so many irresponsible people do not spay and neuter - THOUSANDS of kittens and cats are being killed in shelters and pounds every single day because there are nowhere NEAR enough homes for these poor animals.

If you take the cat to a shelter, unless it is a "no kill" shelter, it is likely to be euthanized unless it is adopted very quickly, unfortunately - so if you can find a "no kill" shelter, it would be better for the cat.

Obviously, the best thing for this cat would be if you could take the cat in and keep it as your own, but if that is not an option, please do try to find a way of getting someone to take it in before you leave on vacation.  This poor thristy, hungry, lonely,DOMESTIC cat is in desperate need of a home where it will have shelter, companionship, play, good cat food and water, a clean litter box, a comfortable place to sleep -- and love...

  4. they eat whatever they can find

  5. They eat birds, bugs, mice... whatever they can find that's smaller than they are.

Don't give it milk anymore, or if you do buy some that is FOR cats. They can't digest cow milk, and will get diarrhea. Why don't you buy some good cat food when you get back, and give it a scoop of that instead of people food. That would be a lot healthier. Or better yet, bring it into your home!

  6. no take it in!!!!!

  7. It will most likely die.

  8. probably, cats will eat anything available and are very smart depending on age but it will be fine. stray cats are used to finding and scavenging food.It has just become a little dependent on you for food and water lately it may take the cat a while to realize you left maybe before you go for good leave some things for it and hope all goes well there is nothing more you can do other than keeping the cat itself. and maybe take it to a shelter... but milk wasent a great idea it is very bad for them.

  9. It depends on the age of the kitten. It sounds like the one you're talking about is fairly self-sufficient. It will probably catch insects and eat grass, etc. Or it might find another human to feed it. It waits by your house because it knows you're a source of food. Cats are smart animals, it will find some other source. It found food before you started feeding it.
