What do striped bass go after the most and best?

  1. We have had great luck with "kastmaster" lures.  Just trolled them behind the boat, or cast from the shore.  Actually, we had the very best luck by watching where the shad were in the early morning/evening.  We actually watched the stripers "heard" them into shallow coves to pig out!  Then, we cast our lures and caught oodles of fish!


  2. We always use shad, depending on how big of one you are attempting to catch should change your bait size, generally the bigger shad the better, or around 5-8 inches for 10 + pound stripes.  Also you can try Red fin lures, or buck tails, i personally love red fins, but i live on a small creek that they run on, and im not sure how they would work in a lake or large river, and bucktails are just like really big crappie jigs.

    You can catch shad with a cast net.
