What do sturgeons eat?

I want to get a little sturgeon fish, about 4 inches long.

I currently have some ghost shrimps inside my tank. Will the sturgeon eat the shrimps?

Other than blood worms and possibly shrimps, what else do sturgeons eat?

  1. They eat Primarily invertebrates, insects, crustaceans, mollusks, and snails.

  2. sturgeons will eat most things you offer them, and will eat ghost shrimp etc. they do best on high protein foods, avoid carbohydrates/plant-based foods.

more importantly, that sturgeon may only be 4" at the moment, but, although relatively slow growing, all sturgeons get over 2ft in length, even the smallest varieties (the Sterlet, gets to about 1m long), and should never be kept in a tank, they should only be kept in large ponds (at least 1000 gallons), or a tank with the similar footprint and filtration of a pond. it will take them around 10 years or so to get to full size, keeping them in a tank will mean they're unlikely to ever reach this and die early.
