  1. I get the big June check too!  it is about 8 grand, so I pay three months of my mortgage, three months of car payments, etc. as soon as I get it.  Luckily, my husband gets paid every week!

BUT, here's the real deal for all of you non-teachers who think we are getting paid to do nothing.  THEY TAKE ABOUT 800 BUCKS OUT OF OUR CHECK EVERY MONTH, THEN GIVE IT TO US AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SUMMER.  It's not like it's magic free money!

It seems like a lot of money, but it goes fast!

I know someone who tutors 7th graders in algebra during the summer so they are more prepared for 8th grade.  Parents are willing to pay a lot per hour to make sure their kids get ahead.  He rakes it in all summer long!

  2. Try playschemes for children during the summer term. Temporary and you get good money!

  3. Prostitution/Escort work,assassins,drug dealers etc

  4. Yeah, I want to know about their HUGE check too!! I know I didn't receive a huge check. Let alone one that would even last me half the summer. :(

It's my second year teaching and to be honest, is rough. I do not get paid good considering how long I've been there, my age and education level. So, I HAVE to work during summer. I usually put in an ad in the newspaper or Craigslist for personal training or sign up as a personal trainer at 24 hour fitness. I get a little bagging job at a grocery store. I'm usually then covered for summer.

  5. I want to know about SFroggy5's big June check.  I wish my school did that!!

Anyways, I tutor and sell stuff on Ebay.

  6. Prostitution/Escort work,assassins,drug dealers etc

    Now that's funny!!!!

  7. i think they make a certain amount each month.

some have to work through the summer

  8. as a former child care center director, i use to hire all teachers to work in the school age program for our summer camp.  they want only summer employment and they were use to the age group so it was a perfect fit.

  9. All depends on how they signed their contract. Some get paid while school in session, while others get paid year round.

  10. We are paid for 10 months of the year, but the pay we get each pay period is pro-rated over all 12 months.  So we get the same paycheque in July that we get in January.  Makes planning and budgeting much easier!

  11. We get a large paycheck at the end of june and we hope it lasts the summer.

Other teachers work at summer camp, summer school, I know some that tutor or work as waiters.

Most teachers I know look forward to the summer so they can kick back and relax with their own kids.
