What do the Brits mean when they say "oi"?

  1. Ah, it has different meaning mate.

    When i say it, it means "oh!" lol


  2. its  a way of rudely calling someone to our attention or an exclamation towards someone if they do something we don't approve of eg. 'oi, what you doing man?!' and 'oi, come here!'

  3. It's a very informal, almost rude, way of getting someone's attention. Like "hey!".

  5. australia doesnt say it because its not an independant nation...thats a stupid statement.

    australia is really the main country which uses it commonly, and we use it to get someones attention.

    they said it when they're excited. the australians use it to because australia is still not an independent colony, or continent
