  1. I went to work on May the 8th

  2. nothing. another boring "jour férié" when everything is closed, u cant do anything but stay in ur crib bored to death. Seriously  thats one thing that i will always criticize about here.. nothing is open on sundays/holidays.

  3. For most poeple it is of course a non working day. And as this year it was a tuesday, poeple often took a leave or got a break so as not to work monday. So it was a 4 day week-end with the French election inside.

But for others this day is used to commemorate the end of the war with flowers put on the dead's monument in every town. Chirac is also doing it in Paris.

  4. well back in 1945 i'm sure it was an exciting day... but these day it's just a holiday that's an afterthought like many in the States.  Like days off in the States I think what people would do depends on the family but nothing specific to the reason for the holiday.  By that I mean my family went camping every memorial weekend growing up but we never actualy remembered those who had died in various wars.

  5. in France, we do'nt work the may 8 !!

    Thanks usa
