Why did Brett Favre agree to join the Jets I men they only won 4 games season. If I were him I would have pushed to go to the Bucs cuz they are a playoff team with a very strong defense so they wont ask much of him. Can someone please explain why Favre would actually want to go to a 4 win team in a tough conference like the AFC

  1. First, I disagree that Favre had no choice but to accept the trade: like all NFL superstars, he had in his contract a proviso that he would have to approve any trade. He approved the trade to the Jets.

Why would he go to a team that only won 4 games?  Two reasons: the Jets made some strong off-season moves, getting top O linemen like Damien Woody and Alan Faneca. Big upgrades there.

Defensively, ditto. They add Calvin Pace at LB, and thier top draft pick Gholston will greatly improve their D line.

They were lacking at the QB position.   No longer are.

Finally: Favre has always been a media-friendly publicity hound. He's now in the world capitol of media attention  He couldn't be happier.

  2. the jets have spent a lot of money to build up for this year , they have some great players and an easy schedule , jet brett has a good chance of being the man and helping put them over the top

  3. LOL, Just because they had a bad season doesn't meant they can't comeback. Do you remember who else had a 4-12 record? And who took them to the NFC Championship the following year?

Oh and William B, you are a complete moron. Why type in $$$$? If he would have stayed retired he would have earned way more money, Brett just wants to play. If you don't know about a subject, stay out of it.

  4. the jets have always pretty much had good players but havent had a good qb since namath but now that  brett is there and if he has a season like he did last year the jets could have things going for them

    hope i helped

  5. $$$$

  6. he had no choice.

finally he realized that he is an NFL player and not bigger that the nfl teams. he had to go there or stay whining to espn reporters.

i am just happy that was over with.

  7. Two of the best receivers in all of football.......enough said!

  8. they are not in wisconsin. He wanted Minnesota and GB would have nothing to do with that.So it was between Tampa and New york.New york offerred GB the better deal.So Favre had to go there if he realy wanted to leavr

  9. Really he had little choice..  Rumors have it that the Bucs are more interested in building a long term team and you cant have a 38 yr old QB waltz in in the middle of August and expect a future.  Although I know all the guys on ESPN can't stop drooling over him, he will struggle in NY.  This is the NFL with play books of thousands of pages and complexed offensives.  In all reality I'm not even sure what the Jets were thinking but you never know..Admittedly Bret was a good quaterback but he also has a habit of throwing balls downfield that would make any offensive coordinator cringe.  I will be surprised if the jets win more than 6 games this year.  Which will be a sad ending for a very respectable but "retired" quaterback....

  10. Alan Faneca, Vernon Gholston, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Bubba Franks, a new rookie TE Dustin Kelly, Eric Mangini, a system that resembles the Packers, no questions as to who's the starter and as of now, a good schedule where the Jets can steal a wildcard spot.

  11. Brett Favre joined the Jets because he is still addicted to football. He still has a lot of little kid in him and can't give it up. Some of the greatest in sports could not leave when they were near the top. Favre seems to be one of them. Hope he does not embarrass himself.

Hope the skills and talent he has, he will be a shoo in to the hall of fame, can help the Jets.

  12. brett favre had to go where ever he was traded.  he was not a free agent  where he could pick and choose.
