What do the Springboks need to do to improve their chances of winning the Tri-Nations?

The Boks looked shaky at times today and didn't put in a hugely convincing performance against a depleted England team. There were some awesome tries and a flash of the old flair that makes the Boks exciting to watch but a terrible 1st half exposed a few weaknesses in the Boks tactics! Errors like that will be disasterous against the All Blacks! My other concern is that they're playing too many matches before the WC...

  1. Don't worry the All Blacks will choke, they ALWAYS DO ! That leaves SA, England & Australia, we both agree England wont have the legs to beat SA or Australia, so it's down to us both this time ! We should have put 50-60 points on against Wales last night but for a few handling errors. However the combinations will peak at the right time, running Rugby at its best can't wait for the final against the Springboks !

  2. Well, firstly the clown administrators and government should butt out of the rugby decisions that are being made.

The recent case of Hoskins intervening in Jake White's selections to force him to pick Luke Watson is a joke and acts as a classic example.

Secondly, give the team some more time together. This was only their second game of the season together and it will take time to adjust from the provincial Super14 game to the International game. I'm sure that come Tri-Nations time, all the bugs would have been worked out.

I don't think the Boks will be burnt out when the WC arrives. Some of the players were rested during the Super14 and management will know not to overuse any of the players in the games before the WC. Additionally, the conditioning coach (I think it's Derick Coetzee) of the Boks has stated that the players are in the best condition that they have been since 2004 when Jake took over.

One thing I'm not sure about is the progression of the rush defence which worked so well for us to the drift defence which we incorporated against England. I think our players are better suited to the rush technique and it was evident  that against England there were gaps which opened up. If we were playing a team like New Zealand, it could have proved costly.

Otherwise, I think that the Boks should just continue to do what they have been doing and people need to trust Jake's judgement. He's a good coach and knows what he's doing.

  3. good day

i think that yes the springboks might be pushes it a bit too far. they have just finished the super 14 and the they have the Tri nations and the Currie cup coming up as well. then they still have to go through the world cup as well. maybe play a game every 2 to 3 weeks but i would not push it otherwise your team will be tired before they get to the world cup.

  4. 1. They have to keep the politics out of rugby!!!!!!!!!!! Pick the best team, not the most colorful one.

    2. I think a change in Scrum half would help, play Ruan Pienaar, he creates opportunities and really helps to get the back line running - also, Pienaar and James know each other from playing with the Sharks - so they are a settled combination.

    3. CJ vd Linde - he's a good replacement, but shouldn't start the game.

    4. I don't really like Olivier on center, but I think he'll be moved to the bench if Fourie returns.

    5. Nerves, I think the guys should calm down, they seem over eager, and therefore often force dumb mistakes.

  5. get a good team

    ALL BLACKS 4 EVER!!!!!!!!!!
