What do the colors in a xhtml script mean

I recently selected "view source" on a xhtml page & I was wondering what the colored text mean.

  1. Depends on your web browser.  It most likely is there to give certain types of keywords different appearances.  For example, all numbers will be one color, language keywords another, etc.
