what do the letter on the scratch off tickets mean for ny mass and conn is there any site you can direct me too to help me solve this. thanks for any help.

  1. The letters are just part of the security system in place to prevent cheating.  Every winning ticket will have a specific set of letters, along with various other security markings that can be verified with the computer to determine the ticket is authentic.

    I doubt you could look up the letters anywhere to determine a specific meaning.

I don't know if it's the same in all states, but here in Washington/Oregon, there are three letters scattered on the card somewhere, APART FROM the serial numbers that the previous responder was talking about. I assume it is these letters that you are curious about. If the ticket is a winner, it will spell a code for how big of a win. For example, if the ticket is a two dollar winner, you will find the letters T-W-O somewhere on the card; they don't have to be in order.

    It is usually pretty easy to tell if the letters mean it is a winner or not. Like, TWO, ONE, FTY (for fifty). I think 100 is HND. They usually make it pretty obvious if it's a loser, like Q X E or something. Anyway, it's nothing you can't find out by taking it into the store.
