What do the monarchy do for our country (England)?

I honestly dont know why so much of our money goes to these people. Why do we pay them and What do they do to deserve it. Apart from William, Diana (RIP) and Harry who have served in the army and do alot of charity work? I understand the monarchy is history and we should preserve it but it gets me annoyed, any of u guys feel the same?

Actually,during WWII ,Princess Elizabeth was trained as an ambulance driver who got down and carried the wounded off the ships in stretchers and helped transport them to the nearest hospitals. She was also trained as a mechanic to not only work on cars or trucks but jeeps and tanks as well.

Once she became queen,she helps bring in foreign investment into Britain and brings in badly needed jobs to her subjects.

Prince Charles makes his money off of taxes and rents on every home and business on Wales. It may interest you to know that royals pay almost double the tax rate of their commoner  countrymen.He also controls The Prince's Trust  which gives scholarships to low income teens to send them to college and better themselves.

I think we have a lot more power over the monarchy than we would over a president because the Queen has been there for so long she has earned our respect and cant drag us into wars on a whim thinking there will be someone else in charge next year.

I also remember reading somewhere that the monarchy costs everyone in the UK about £1.50, its not that much.

They do a lot for tourism! People come from all over the world to see them or their homes....Prince Charles is pretty green and right on and he hassles the government about being more eco friendly....they are a part of history...and a part of the U.K.

Sadly, not alot anymore, knightings maybe. And signing lots of papers. But they really have little control of anything that goes on anymore.
