  1. The manufacture of protein according to instructions encoded in the genes in the nucleus. These genes are transcripted into RNA from DNA. The RNA then leaves the nucleus and interacts with ribosomes on the ER (Endoplasmic Recticullum) to link individual amino acids together into the protein chain specicifed according to the genetic information encoded in the DNA. Golgi bodies (vesicles) are then used as storage repositories of these proteins. The proteins are often isolated in vesicles because they can be either powerful hormones or digestive enzymes.
