  1. I don't know if those are terms for boating but I know of something else it could describe! :)

    Sometimes there's no room to swing a cat otherwide.

  3. Head up...sail closer to the direction of the wind.

    Harden up....sheet(pull) the sails in tighter.

    Heat it up....trim the boat altogether...both sails and coarse direction to go faster. Often if sailing close to the wind(close hauled)...heating it up means bearing off a bit...to a reach...with the sails fuller and faster.
