What do these invest symbols mean? very easy question?

hey guys i know this is a dumb question but everyday you see this number on the nasdaq, dow, and 500. It will say someting like nasdaq: +46.5 (1.75%) What do those numbers mean? there are 2 the first one and the percentage one.

The first one is the number of points the index is either up or down and the percentage is simply the percent it is either up or down.
