  1. They teach you this in drivers ed.

    White line, one way

    Yellow line, two way

    Broken line, passing is legal

    Solid line, passing is forbidden.

  2. In general, single broken lines mean passing is allowed, single solid lines mean pass only to avoid a hazard, and double solid lines mean it is prohibited, as it often is in tunnels.

On two-lane roads, a single broken centerline means that passing is allowed in either direction, a double solid centerline means passing is prohibited in both directions, and the combination of a solid line with a broken line means that passing is allowed only from the side with the broken line and prohibited from the side with the solid line.

  3. YOU NEED TO GO BACK TO DRIVERS TRAINING!!!!!!!!

  4. When I was growing up, I found white lines in the middle of the road (dividing directions)  and yellow lines along the side.  Now they are switched round.

In the center.  broken lines mean its safe to change lanes.  (check traffic first).  solid lines mean no line changing.

Crossing the yellow line now means that you are in a on-coming traffic lane (head on collision time)

    I hope this rambling helps
