  3. As thick as two short planks?  To explain this would take ages and you would get bored after the first sentence.

    As Dim as a Toc H lamp.  A Toc H Lamp was used in World War 1 as they were set up outside the soldiers facilities and were used for safety reasons as they were not very bright.  Oh by the TOC H was a Charity, abit like the salvation Army.

  5. i know that sick as a parrot comes from uk explorers when they visited africa saw that the similar breeds of parrot tended to be blue but then others green or grey, they assumed they were ill. im unsure about the other one.

    i only know a few saying but here they are.

    an apple a day keeps the doctor away

    if its brown flush it down if its yellow let it mellow

  6. When I was younger & I would ask my mom for things she would tell me that she "can`t buy a cripple crab" a crutch. Meaning she had no money .

    What happens in the dark always comes to the light .
