What do they call the fibrous part of the fruit where it attaches to the branch?

If you've ever looked at the poles of fruits, you've surely noticed that they have woody parts. These parts are usually where the fruit was attached to a branch. Is there a word for this part in the English language?

  1. It's the stem, common in all fruits grown on trees.


  2. the stem, it stays the stem from the time a bulb is grown, it becomes a flower, becomes pollinated, and fruits. its the stem.
