  1. what are you referencing to is either a cowl induction hood or a hood scoop, but since it looks like a motor, its the air intake portion for a supercharger

  2. its called a hood scoop

  3. Lots of close, but no cigars, here. I am certain that what you are refering to is the top part of a blower with the injector throttle bodies.

I think they actually sold a stupid plastic replica that you could bolt on  quite a few years ago.

In order to do the real thing you need to build a ten thousand dollar engine and put a five thousand dollar blower on it.

  4. IF you are talking about something that looks like the engine then you are talking about a blower that sits on top of a supercharger. It is not part of the body.

  5. your are talking about a blower or scoop

  6. do you mean on the actual roof of the car or on the bonnet?

  7. If you are talking about the big shiny thing sticking out of the hood of the black Charger that gets destroyed in the movie, That's a Blower, also called a supercharger. That one is the old GMC, or Roots type of blower that was used on the old Detroit Diesel 2 strokes. There are different sizes depending on what engine they were designed for. For example, if you here someone say 6-71 blower, that is a blower designed for an engine with 6 cylinders, each one being 71 cubic inches in displacement. They were originally 4, 6, or, 8-71, but, today they can be up to 14-71. They are still used today on Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars, as well as some Hot Rods. I have a Weiand 8-71 blower on my Pro Street '70 Chevelle, so, you can use them on street cars. It's not easy, and is sometimes not legal, but it can be done. The mods needed to use one are extensive, and, they are very expensive to buy. If you have a newer Camaro or Silverado, I would suggest using a centrifugal supercharger. There are kits designed for these types of vehicles, and the mods needed as well as the cost involved are not nearly as much. If you really want to run one of the "Jimmy" style setups, be prepared to go the whole Pro Street route, cause that's basically what you will need to do. Watch an NHRA drag race on ESPN or ESPN 2 and you will see them.
