  1. if he reacts when u say his or her name he will be fine

  2. The doctor will most likely just ask questions on how the mother feels her child is developing and behaving.  How many words does he/she have, how does he/she behave around other children?  If the mother has concerns, then she needs to discuss them with the doctor.  The pediatrician will let her know if her child falls within normal behavior or if there needs to be additional evaluation.  Autism is a spectrum disorder, meaning that children can exhibit a wide range of symptoms and disabilities.  Some are worse than others.  Chances are her child is normal and fine.  But if there is a problem, early detection and treatment will help.

  3. they really dont "check" for it. i mean its not like testing for strep throat or anything like that. they willl ask about his/her developmental milestones and his behaviors. and if he thinks the child had autisic characteristics, then he will probably send you to a specialist. good luck!

  4. My son was diagnosed at that age evaluation.  They did things like handed him a phone, to see if he would mimic the appropriate things.  My son just wrapped himself up in the cord.  They showed him 2 toys then they placed them in the corner(while he watched) and covered them with a towel.  Then they asked him to go get the "truck", he started to walk to the door to try and leave.  Those kinds of things.  Where is he going for the evaluation?  The type of Dr. or clinic makes a big difference.  You can email me for more info., if you want.
