  1. Well, to start with, a rehab center helps you stop taking drugs but it doesn't make you stop.  That particular decision is one you have to make before you arrive.  The folks at the rehab center help you do that.  The first thing is to help you withdraw physically from the drug, if need be.  Then they do a lot of individual and group therapy sessions to help you find better ways to cope with your problems and stresses than to turn to drugs.  You speak with a lot of people, both experts and fellow people trying to get clean.  Then depending on the length of the rehab program, you are discharged to return home.  You may be given appointments to continue your counseling on an out-patient basis, or you may even return to the rehab center for it, until you have reached a point that you can stay clean on your own.  It's not easy to do, and lots of folks don't actually stay clean until they decide to do it.  Nobody can make you stop, and unfortunately nobody can help you stay clean either.  It would be a lot easier if they could.
