In the butter industry, i'm sure there must be hellish amounts of buttermilk left over? What do they do with it? It seems a waste to just dispose of it?

I'm told it might get used in scones but i don't think that many scones are made?

  1. They sell it to people to make scones and pancakes and such like. It makes the BEST lightest pancakes on earth, it is also used in animal feed. x

  2. They dry it into powdered milk.

Since most of the fat has gone into the butter, thats where the nonfat powdered milk comes from.

  3. You buy it in the grocery store just like you buy milk or cream.  It is great for baking, I use it all the time.

  4. I have not read all the information from this site..

    http://www.webexhibits.org/butter/making...

Buttermilk is in the grocer dairy cooler..

and excess must be used in cheese making or dehydrated  to add to  many hundreds of tons of cake mix or biscuit in the tube then figure in the pet food industry
