I'm talkni' about the new cars. Well.. I always see a lotta new cars in car dealerships, and I am pretty sure not all of them gets sold. So.. if they don't get sold, and they get somewhat outdated, what do they do with the cars?

  1. Well There is this manky mint green micra that has been sitting outside the Nissan Dealers near me for ages. They stuck a 'Manager's special' sign on it (but didn't change the price) and still didn't sell it. I reckon they go to auction in the end.

  2. They all get sold.  Sometimes, well into the next model year for some cars.

  3. New cars that don't get sold because newer models are out are eventually sold by the dealership. New cars usually come out in the fall so dealerships usually get anxious about the unsold cars in their lot. They never are sold as used because they are new and untitled. The dealership may have to sell the older models just a few bucks above dealer invoice or just below dealer invoice. But in the end, the dealer gets the money back selling you extended warranty and other useless add ons. You are still buying a new car by any means. You just have to remember that it's a year or two older so depreciation will be so much. Some of them gets shipped to other dealerships that maybe looking for those cars for customers wanting to buy 'em. So bottomline, dealerships make the money from the customers whether or not the model is an older one or a totally brand new model.

  4. auction block

  5. They always sell all cars even at loss.  At Toyota most cars from model year are sold by late October and are selling next years models.

  6. All new cars get sold, a dealer may sell them to other dealers that are bigger and do more business, but all new cars will be sold to someone or some business.  Some dealers will transfer them to there used car inventory if a car gets to old.

New cars do not get sent to auctions, they will always be sold.

Eddie is 100 % wrong, a new car dealer has to pay a flooring fee or a bank fee every month on every car.  If that fee becomes to high and the car is very old, then we will sell the new car to the used car lot.  When we sell that unit to the used car side of the dealership we generate a title for that car and it now becomes a used car. This will start the flooring plan over on that car again and the bank fees will be cheaper.

I have done this with many cars over the years.

    This is exactly what happens.

  7. Hi Dear,

I think other dealers buy them when they have someone who is looking for that kind of car.

    Your friend,

  8. They give them to me. ;)

  9. What Eddie says is pretty accurate but when a car reaches a year old it drops in value a lot the first years depreciation is horrible real horrible but if you want a new car that has gone down thousands and has a new car guarantee unless you plan to sell in a year or two buy one just about a year old especially about now or in  month or so because they have to sell them as the lot gets full of to many cars and the dealers don't really own the cars they 95 percent or more of the dealers pay the bank for them and every month that car sits there they pay quite a bit in payments to the bank and insurance company for dealers lot insurance to protect against loss's from Vandals.

So if you shop your guts out you can get a good buy and if you have a good Friend that really knows cars and how to do minor repairs and touch ups they do send them to auctions even to break even they get stuck with so many with the way the bad economy is right now.

don't let the politicians fool you we are in a recession and they are trying to keep us out of a depression a real depression like years ago. Where do you live?

It means a lot if you are going to buy right now. I don't sell cars but i have friends that have for years and they have gotten out of the business it is so bad and they have changed job types to survive.

If you tell me where yu live and what you can afford i can get you the address of the best auctions if you kive in my area od the world.

Heck i know a place right now where dealers have sent almost 800,000 to practically a million cars to auction off new cars and  or at most one or two years old with no more than 25,000 miles on them due to them being turned back in when the leases expire. People that wanted to buy them at the end of the lease are broke so the dealer eats them and eventually sends them to the auctions right now faster than ever before at great prices.

Put you name and e-mail and the heading of your request in a e-mail and send it to

    "thenemo12003@yahoo.com"

    Remember show;

show your heading in your request like i pasted  this back in so i know it's you i'll ask my friend what they are over loaded with and you can go and get yourself a great deal directly yourself. I'll do my best for you but these are giant auctions like four auctions going a week in one very well traveled town guys go from hundreds of miles away just to see the action it's so wild.

But you can really save big i don't make anything people are there by the thousands.

I'm just trying to help you out as some dealers are so deep in debt they'd s***w their own brother be careful man.

Remember to put in the base of the letter---

What do they do with the cars that don't get sold in car dealerships?---?

  10. They get sent to auction.

Usually with a reserve price, which is often the amount the dealer has paid for the car.
