Question:

What do they doctors tell you after a blood examination?

My uncle needs a new kidney, so I have to go in for blood testing. I smoked weed the other day, so I know I'm going to fail. I'm turning 19 in a week, so I'm legally an adult. If I tell the doctors to not say anything about the THC to my parents, are they allowed?

And just so everyone knows, If I do have a blood match with my uncle I will give up smoking until after the procedure.

  1. Good on you for being the best nephew you can be given the situation. :-)

I don't think the doctors can inform the parents of a 'capable-of-looking-after-himself' adult.  I know in pharmacy we wouldn't divulge personal information to parents of adults (they would sometimes come in and ask to know what medication their children are on).

    Take care of yourself.

  2. You can't "fail" a blood test. Either you are compatible with your uncle or not.

  3. don't worry about it...i had a kidney transplant and all my family ,[well many[ puff and they dont test for it...the test for blood type, antibodys, blood count [white and red cells]

  4. They are not screening for drugs, they are testing your blood to see if you would be a potential donor for your uncle (and congratulations to you for stepping up to help him.)  Good luck to you and to your uncle.
